Mortice Locks – Tried, Tested, and True
Mortice locks (or Mortise locks, if you care to mangle the good Queen’s English), have been around for quite a while. They fell out of favour for some time because of the skill required to properly fit them, but they’re generally considered stronger than your standard cylindrical-bore locks.
Identifiable by their inlaid plate (like in the picture above), mortice locks require the installer to carve in (or “mortice”) a rectangular section of the door so that the plate is flush with the door’s surface.
Currently regaining favour in new construction and development (especially in commercial locations and high-end residential buildings) the biggest drawback to the mortice lock is the skill required to install it properly.
Happily, East Sydney Locksmiths has 25 years of the necessary experience to make sure your mortice (or mortise) lock is skillfully set to make you secure.
